Assignment task: The chosen social issue is the large number of immigrants and migrants in El Paso, Texas, and the difficulty they have obtaining resources and assistance.
The assessment consists of three components: determining the needs of the population and how well those needs are understood; locating the necessary resources and determining whether or not they are available; and evaluating the preparedness of the community. A community survey is conducted, and a working group consisting of representatives from all relevant parties is put together in order to determine which of the many urgent problems facing the area can be resolved most effectively.
