Academic and Scientific Integrity

The concept of scientific integrity is central to nutritional information just as food is essential to our lives. Experts have spent many years working within their fields, and the highest standards of integrity must be met if they want to publish their scientific studies. By referencing facts and ideas from expert scientific studies, we give our own writing more credibility to support our own central thesis or idea.

Integrity is also an important concept at Walden University, at your place of work, and even in your personal life. This week, you have spent time reviewing and reflecting upon Walden University's policies on academic honesty and integrity. How do these policies relate to you, as an individual and student, and to the science of nutrition? Why is ethics important in nutritional science? Why is it important that you do not rely on nutritional claims made without scientific evidence?
