Aaron has completed his dissertation study and has successfully defended his dissertation to his doctoral committee. Aaron's research problem addressed the question as to whether or not direct instruction in the use of memory strategies would improve students' learning in undergraduate college classes. Memory strategies were taught to students attending classes in English literature, philosophy, accounting, education, and math. The study design included administration of a pretest to students in all classes, instruction in memory strategies, and administration of a post-test to investigate both within group and between group differences.
Aaron's advisor worked closely with Aaron in refining his research questions and hypotheses, formulating the research design, and making decisions about data collection and appropriate statistical tests to use to analyze the data.
