A venturi meter is used to determine rate of flow in a pipe

Question: 1. A venturi meter is used to determine rate of flow in a pipe. The diameter at the entrance (1) is 6 in. and at the vena contracta (2) is 4 in. Find the discharge through the pipe when p1 - pz = 3 psi, for oil with specific gravity = 0.6

2. A venturi meter is placed in a 4-in. ID pipe on an angle of 300 with the horizontal. Water at room temperature flows through the venturi, which has a throat of 2 in. If the pressure drop in the meter is measured by a mercury manometer, find the velocity of water in the 4-in. pipe.
