A bridge having a horizontal top cord is span between tow

A bridge having a horizontal top cord is span between tow piers Aand B having an arbitrary height. It is required that apin-connected truss be used, consisting of steel members boltedtogether to steel gusset plates. The end supports are assumed to bea pin at A and a roller at B. A vertical loading of 5 kN isto be supported within the middle 3m of the span. This loadcan be applied in part to several joints on the top cord withinthis region or to a single joint at the middle of the topcord. The force of the wind and the weight ofthe members are to be neglected. Assume themaximum tensile force in each member cannot exceed 4.25 kN; andregardless of the length of the member, the maximum compressiveforce cannot exceed 3.5kN. Design the mosteconomical truss that will support the loading. The members cost $7.50/m and the gusset plates cost $8.00each. Submit your cost analysis for thematerials, along with a scaled drawing of the truss, identifying onthe drawing the tensile and compressive force in eachmember. Also include your calculations of thecomplete force analysis.
