Moving Picture Experts Group is an organization standard encoding format. Available as MPEG - 1 & MPEG - 2 . MPEG - 2 is the standard employed by DVD and is of much higher quality than MPEG - 1. MPEG - 1   has usual frame size of 352 * 240 & a constant bit stream of 1 megabit per sec. This consumes 10 megabytes for each min of video. VCDs are the MPEG - I format. MPEG - 2 offers for 720 x 480 resolutions and by much less loss of detail over MPEG - 1. The file sizes are 3 - 4 times bigger than MPEG - 1.
