Variable area meters are special type of head meters. In the area of flow restrictor is varied. In order to grasp the discrepancy pressure steady. The Rota meter comprises of a vertical tapered tube through that the metered fluid flows in up-ward direction. As the flow varies the “float” rises or falls to vary the area of the passages that the discrepancy across it balances the gravitational force on the “float”. The discrepancy pressure is maintained steady. The position of the “float” is the measure of the rate of flow.
