Working of contraceptive pills
Explain the working of the contraceptive pills?
Expert
Contraceptive pills consist of hormones progesterone and estrogen. If consumed daily from the 4th day after menses abnormal elevation of these hormones acts on the hypophysis-hypothalamus endocrine axis hindering the LH and FSH liberations. As these hormones then do not attain their normal high levels during the menstrual cycle ovulation does not takes place. (Treatment with the contraceptive pills should be initiated under the medical supervision.)
