STAR Topology: A STAR topology is totally based on a central node that acts as a hub. The STAR topology is very common in homes networks where all computers are connect to the single central computer employing it as a hub.
Advantages:
(A) Simple to troubleshoot (B) A single node failure does not distress the whole network. (C) Fault detection and elimination of faulty parts is simpler. (D) In circumstance of a workstation fails, the network is not affect.
Disadvantages:
(A) Difficult to expand. (B) Longer cable is needed. (C) The cost of hub and the longer cables makes it costly over others. (D) In case when hub fails, the whole network fails.
