Melanin refers to pigment which besides colouring the iris of the eye, the skin, and the hair, also works as filter against the ultraviolet radiation of sun thus, defending the body form the harmful effects of this radiation (majorly the burns and carcinogenic mutations).Melanocyte refers to the cells that get affected in one of the more deadly skin cancers: melanoma.
