A Chain Reaction produces huge amount of heat which can be used to produce steam. (The chain reaction under the uncontrolled conditions can release tremendously large amount of energy which can cause atomic explosion).
a) It is a process in which splitting up of nucleus of fissionable materials like uranium into two or more fragments is carried out which releases huge amount of energy. b) The nucleus of U235 is bombarded with the high energy carrying neutrons. c) The neutrons are rapidly produced and is made to fuse other nuclei of U235, thus setting up a chain reaction. d) Out of 2.5 neutrons released one neutron is used to sustain the chain reaction.
