It is frequently considered as a subset of systems development life cycle. There are some models for such processes, each explaining approaches to a diversity of tasks or actions which take place throughout the process. Some of the people consider a life-cycle model a more general term and a software development method a more specific term. For illustration, there are many specific software development methods that 'fit' the spiral life-cycle model. ISO/IEC 12207 is an international standard for the software life-cycle processes.
