Tracheal respiration
Which animals do the tracheal respiration? Is there a blood-like fluid which participates in this process?
Expert
Insects and arachnids are arthropod animals which make tracheal respiration. In body surface of these animals there exist several orifices which are called as spiracles which communicate with the small tubules, the tracheae, through which carbon dioxide is expelled and air penetrates. The tracheae ramify into the tracheoles which reach all the tissues of animal. In circulatory system of insects the blood only transports nutrients whereas gases are independently transported through the tracheal system.
