Withered plant cells are such that have shrunk due to loss of water through evaporation without sufficient replacement. In this condition the cell membrane retracts and separates from the cell wall. The cell wall furthermore expands in length to stimulate the entrance of water forming TP < 0. As DPD = SF – TP and TP is negative (< 0) its formula will be DPD = SF + |TP|.
