Software deteriorates instead of wears out as: (i) Software suffer from the exposure to hostile environments. (ii) Defects are more probable to occur after software has been used frequently. (iii) Multiple modification requests introduce errors in the component interactions. (iv) Software spare parts become much harder to order.
