Similar concentration of different solutes
Can solutions with similar concentration of different solutes contain different osmotic pressures?
Expert
The osmotic pressure of a solution doesn’t depend on the nature of the solute; it depends simply on the quantity of molecules (or particles) in relation to the net solution volume. Solutions with similar concentration of particles even having distinct solutes exert similar osmotic pressure.
Even whenever the solution contains a mix of distinct solutes its osmotic pressure depends just on its total particle concentration in spite of of the nature of solutes.
