Sexual reproduction generally occurs through the three different types of life cycles:
a) The haplontic (being is haploid) haplobiontic (a single type of being) cycle;
b) The diplontic (being is haploid) haplobiontic (a single type of being) cycle; and
c) The diplobiontic cycle (two types of beings, one haploid and other is diploid). The diblobiontic cycle is called as the alternation of metagenesis, generations.
In humans, the cycle is diplontic haplobiotic (a single diploid being).
