The responsibilities of Application layer are as follows:
a) FTAM (file transfer, access, mgmt): Permits user to access the files in a remote host.
b) Mail services: It gives email forwarding and storage.
c) Directory services: It gives database sources to access the information regarding different sources and objects.
Beaconing: It is an FDDI frame or Token Ring frame which points to serious trouble with the ring, like a broken cable. The beacon frame brings the address of the station considered to be down.
