Relation between hypothalamus and hypophysis
Write down the relation between hypothalamus and hypophysis?
Expert
The hypothalamus is the part of brain which is located just above hypophysis. The hypothalamus receives peripheral and central neural impulses that trigger response of its neurosecretory cells. Axons of these cells go down to adenohypophysis to control the hipophyseal secretions by means of the negative feedback. When the plasma levels of the adenohypophyseal hormones are too high hypothalamus finds this information and commands the interruption of production of hormone. When the blood level of an adenohypophyseal hormone is low the hypothalamus stimulates the secretion of the hormone.
The hypothalamic cells produce the hormones released by the neurohypophysis. These hormones are transported by their axons to hypophysis and then released in circulation.
