Monosaccharides are molecules of carbohydrates which can’t be broken into smaller molecules of the other carbohydrates. Oligosaccharides are carbohydrates made up by union of a maximum of 10 monosaccharides. Polysaccharides are the polymers of monosaccharides made up of more than 10 units of these monomers. The most significant polysaccharides are starch, cellulose, chitin and glycogen.
