Male and female gametes
Regarding their size and basic morphology how and why do male and female gametes differentiate from each other?
Expert
The female gametes are the big cells which is full of vitellus (nutritive material) whereas the male gametes are small, agile and mobile flagellate cells. Those attributes are associated to their respective biological role. Whereas, the female gametes perform the basic role of accepting the sperm cell nucleus and of storing the nutrients for the zygote, the male gametes perform the function of active movement towards the stored egg cell.
