Amnion is the membrane which covers the embryo. Chorion is the membrane which covers the amnion, the allantois, and the yolk sac. The space delimited by chorion and the amnion is termed as amniotic cavity and it is filled with aminiotic fluid. The amniotic cavity has the roles of preventing desiccation of the embryo and of saving it against the mechanical shocks.
