In autumn, the days become shorter and nights longer therefore there is a drop of the photosynthesis rate and certain plants prepare themselves for the winter forming nutrient stores. In this procedure, nutrients from the leaves travel in the direction of storage sites: trunk, limbs and roots. With less chlorophyll generated in leaves the typical green color of the plant fades.
