a) Lungs,
b) Airway and
c) Respiratory muscles.
There exist right and the left lungs which is made up of alveoli where gas exchange (taking in oxygen and release of carbon dioxide) takes place; lungs are enclosed within the pleura (a serous membrane). The airway comprehends the nose, the larynx, the pharynx, (including the vocal cords), the bronchi, the trachea, and the bronchioles. The muscles on which the process of breathing depends are majorly diaphragm and intercostals muscles.
