The venous blood which comes from the tissues arrives in the right atrium of heart. From the right atrium, the blood goes to the right ventricle. The valve which separates the right ventricle from right atrium is the tricuspid valve (that is, a valvular system made up of three leaflets). The tricuspid valve is essential to prevent returning of blood to the right atrium throughout systole (that is, contraction of ventricles).
