Synapses are said to be the structures which transmit the neural impulse between two neurons. Whenever, the electric impulse reaches the presynaptic membrane of axon liberates neurotransmitters which is bind to the postsynaptic receptors of dendrites of next cell. The activated state of these receptors changes the permeability of dendritic membrane and electric depolarization which propagates all along the neuron plasma membrane to its axon.
