Though this is not a rule, effective fecundation in general should takes place within 24 hours after the ovulation (which happens around 14th day of the menstrual cycle). Fecundation can happen even in case the copulation took place up to the 3 days before the ovulation since the male gametes stays viable for around 72 hours in the female reproductive system. The fertile period of women generally is considered as the period from 7 days before the ovulation to 7 days after the ovulation.
