Features of Vapour Compression Refrigeration System
Specify some of the features of vapour compression refrigeration system and vapour absorption refrigeration system.
Expert
Vapour compression system:
a) System has more wear and tear and it produces more noise due to the moving parts of the compressor. b) Electric power is required to drive the system. c) Capacity of the system drops more rapidly by low evaporator pressure. d) At partial loads performance gets affected. e) Mechanical energy is supplied through the compressor. f) Energy which is supplied is ¼ to ½ of the refrigerating effect. g) Charging of the refrigerating with the system is easy. h) Preventive measure is required, as liquid refrigerant gets accumulated in the cylinder which causes damage to the cylinder. Vapour absorption system :
a) Only moving part in this system is an aqua pump. Therefore, it is quieter in operation and has less wear and tear. b) Waste of exhaust steam can be used and there is no need of electric power. c) Capacity of the system decreases due to the low evaporative pressure, by increasing the steam pressure in the generator. d) At partial loads performance is not affected. e) System utilizes Heat energy. f) Energy supplied is approximately one and half times the refrigerating effect. g) Charging of refrigerant is quite difficult. h) Liquid refrigerant has no bad effect over the system.
