The increment is the sum total of all Product Backlog Items completed throughout a sprint and all preceding sprints. At the ending of a sprint, the Increment should be done according to the Scrum Team's definition of completed. The increment should be in useable situation regardless of whether the Product Owner decides to essentially release it.
