Cytochrome is protein of the internal mitochondrial membrane which is specialized in the electron transmit and takes part in respiratory chain. Energized electrons released through the hydrogen donors FADH₂ and NADH₂ (then retransformed in FAD and NAD) pass throughout a series of cytochromes losing energy in each and every passage. The energy is then employed in synthesis of ATP.
