The autonomic nervous system is divided into the
a) Parasympathetic nervous system and
b) Sympathetic nervous system.
The sympathetic nervous system emerges the nerves which come out from the ganglia of neural chains that are lateral to the spinal column near by the spinal cord and therefore, are distant from the tissues they innervate. The peripheral and central neurons are linked to those neurons which are also part of the sympathetic. The parasympathetic nervous system consists of nerves and central or peripheral neurons which are related to visceral ganglia, neural ganglia located near by the tissues they innervate.
