Amnion is the membrane which covers the embryo. Chorion is membrane which covers the amnion, yolk sac and allantois. The space delimited by the chorion and amnion is known as amniotic cavity and it is filled with aminiotic fluid. The amniotic cavity has functions of avoiding desiccation of embryo and of keeping it safe against mechanical shocks.
