Disadvantages of MBO are:
1. Unfavorable approach of Managers: Some executives have a mind-set that the regular concentration required of them by organization by objectives system, drawn greatly on their busy time-schedule and is not constant with their roles.
2. Difficult to Apply MBO Concepts: Those executives who have been involved very frequently find it hard to apply MBO ideas to their own work habits.
3. Heavy Paper Work: MBO involves an enormous quantity of news letter, performance data review, training manuals, appraisals report and questionnaires to be made.
4. Tug of War: Sometimes tug of war happens as the subordinates try to set the lowest goals possible and the supervisors the maximum.
5. Time Consuming: MBO is time taking especially in the beginning phases of its introduction when employees are not familiar with its procedure.
