Diffusion pressure deficit formula
Demonstrate the formula DPD = SF – TP.
Expert
DPD is abbreviation of the diffusion pressure deficit, SF (or suction force) is vacuolar osmotic pressure and TP is turgor pressure.
The differentiation between SF and TP finds out whether water tends or not to come into the cell. When SF > TP, DPD > 0 and water tends to come into the cell through osmosis. When TP > SF, DPD < 0 and water can’t come into the cell through osmosis.
