Differentiation between TIG and MIG Welding

Expert
While Metal Inert Gas (or MIG) and Tungsten Inert Gas (or TIG) is both shielded arc welding applications, they are extremely dissimilar from one another. MIG welds are formed with a consumable electrode, whereas TIG welds are formed with a non-consumable electrode. TIG welding usually consists of filler metal also.
MIG and TIG arc welding can both be automated. But, TIG is a further obscured procedure so the equipment is pricier and not easy to set.
