First category consists of-

- Quantity received in surplus
- Quantity received in small
- Quantity damaged
- Receipt of mistaken quantity of material.

These differences are normally caused through the transportation system.

Second category consists of – Differences in quality of material supplied.

These Differences are caused through the manufacturer.
