Hypertension is a disease in that the arterial blood pressure, throughout systole or throughout diastole, is extremely high.

Hypertension, high blood pressure, is a situation which should be diagnosed and treated because it creates irreversible injuries in the arteries and, later, it affects other severe diseases in organs such as the heart, kidneys, brain, retina, and so forth.
