The following are the demerits of internal sources of recruitment with which system suffers from certain defects as:
1. There are possibilities that internal sources may “dry up”, and it may be difficult to find the requisite personnel from within an organisation.
2. It often leads to in refinement, and discourages new blood from entering the organisation.
3. As promotion is based on superiority, here the danger is really capable hands may not be preferred. Adores and displeasures of the management may also play an important role in the selection of personnel.
4. Since the learner does not know more than the professor, no modernisations worth the name which can be made. It is therefore, on jobs which require original thinking (such as advertising, style, designing and basic examination), this type of practice is not to be followed.
5. This source is used by many organisations; but a surprisingly large number overlook this source, particularly for middle management jobs.
