Motivation is the internal state or condition (that is, sometimes explained as a need, wish or want) which serves to activate or energize the behavior and offer it direction.

This is a drive which compels one to act as human behavior is directed toward certain goal. Motivation is an intrinsic (or internal); it comes from within based on the personal interests, desires and necessitate for fulfillment. Though, extrinsic (or external) factors like rewards, praise and promotions as well influence the motivation.
