Glycolysis, the initial phase of the aerobic cell respiration, is a procedure in which glucose is degraded (or broken) to form two pyruvic acid molecules all along with the formation of two NADH and two ATP.
Glycolysis is a complicated reaction implying the formation of some intermediate molecules till pyruvic acid molecules are formed. Though two ATP molecules are consumed in the reaction, there is as well production of four molecules of ATP; therefore a positive balance of two ATP molecules is received. Two NADH molecules are as well generated. In glycolysis the 6-carbon structure of glucose is broken down and two organic chains of three carbons each are made up; such chains give birth to two pyruvic acid molecules.
