Databases of Structures from Homology Modeling

Databases of Structures from Homology Modeling: Now a days we have databases in which we have structures obtained from homology modeling. The following are the databases.

• Modbase
• SWISS-MODEL Repository

Sali and his coworkers with the help of the program Modeller created the database Modbase, which creates models based on satisfaction of special restraints. That is we obtain the restraints from the alignments of homologues of known structures and apply to the unknown structures. There are a number of items that can be included as restraints such as distances between alpha carbons, the other distances in main-chain, and main-chain and side-chain dihedral angles. Routines to please the restraints optimally comprise conjugate gradient minimization and molecular dynamics by simulated annealing.
