We must configure the mapping with least number of transformations and expressions to do most amount of work possible. You must minimize the amount of a data moved through deleting needless links between transformations. For transformations which employ data cache (like Joiner, Aggregator, Lookup, and Rank transformations) limit connected input or output or output ports. Limiting the number of a connected input or output or output ports decreases the amount of data transformations store into the data cache.

We can also execute the subsequent tasks to optimize mapping which are illustrated below:

i) Configure single-pass reading.
ii) Optimize data type conversions.
iii) Eliminate transformation errors.
iv) Optimize transformations.
