Climax stage of ecological succession
Write down the climax stage of ecological succession?
Expert
The climax stage is stage of ecological succession in that the community of ecosystem becomes constant and doesn’t undergo important alters. In the climax community practically all ecological niches are discovered and greater biodiversity is probable. In this stage the biomass, the photosynthesis rate and cellular respiration reach their maximum levels and therefore net primary production (NPP = organic material made by producers – organic material consumed in cellular respiration of producers) tends to nil. At climax amount of oxygen released by the photosynthesis is practically equivalent to oxygen consumed by the respiration. (This is one more cause why it is wrong to say that Amazon Rainforest, an ecosystem at climax stage, is “the lung” of earth. Other reasons are: lungs are not producers of oxygen; algae and cyanobacteria of phytoplankton are the major producers of the molecular oxygen of planet.)
