Bentonite and Polymeric Slurry
Explain Bentonite Slurry and Polymeric Slurry and which is good?
Expert
Bentonite Slurry is commonly for the manufacture of diaphragm walls. It is used to form filter cake on the walls of trenches to support the pressure of the earth. The use of bentonite purely is based upon its thixotrophic gel viscosity to provide the support.
Although the Polymer cost is generally expensive than bentonite, the use of the polymer is increasing because the polymer is infinitely re-usable and little amount of polymer is required for construction purposes. Further, disposal cost of bentonite is quite high while polymer disposal can be readily conducted by adding agglomerator.
