The student will compare and contrast two art objects by the same artist. You should pick objects that have something in common other than then they were made by the same person.

Secondly, you will begin your research by filling in the questionnaire found within this assignment.

The artist used for this assignment is Vincent Van Gogh. The 2 art pieces include "The Starry Night" and "Cafe Terrance at Night".

Questionnaire:

1) What is the name of the artist? Date the artist was born and died (if still alive, mention that)? This MUST be an artist found in the textbook and one that has more than one object attributed to them.

2) Where was the artist born and were did he/she live during their career as an artist?

3) Where did the artist study art and why (if known) did they become an artist?

4) What art historical style is the artist best known for? (Renaissance, Baroque, Impressionism or such. You can look in the on-line lectures in unit 3, which is the history of art for your artist and then see which section I have them placed.
