Multicultural Education Assignment
Student will select from one of the following groups: Native Americans, African Americans, Asian Americans (which would include Japanese Americans, Chinese Americans, Filipinos, and other groups), Spanish-speaking groups (which would include Hispanics, Chicanos, Puerto Ricans, and Cubans), Arabs, Amish, many of the other ethnic and/or refugee groups that have settled in this section of the country.
The power point presentation should not exceed 12 slides and should include text and visuals aids. The first slide will be your title page. The last slide should be a Work Cited slide. The power point must include the following elements:
• Who is this group? Give a description?
• What is this group's population size in the United States?
• What is the ecology (e.g., religion, family structure, gender roles and responsibilities, family practices) of this group? Consider some of the celebrations of the culture, which may include homes, dances, holidays, toys, clothing, food, etc.
• What are this group's values?
• Describe the educational system for this group.
• What do you know about the group's health care, government, and economic systems?
• What issues does this group face?
• What are some differences and similarities between the group and the dominant culture?
• Describe some of the lessons you learned from your study of this group.
