What is the purpose of a mutation accumulation

Problem:

Question 1: What is the purpose of a mutation accumulation (MA) experiment experiment? How would you design it? Explain how mutation, natural selection, and genetic drift operate during the course of an MA experiment. What data would you collect during an MA experiment, and how you would interpret it?

Question 2: You are studying selection in turquoise-browed motmots. Males with longer tails are strongly preferred as mates by females. You measure tail length in one population and find that it ranges from 8 - 12 cm. You also observe that only males whose tails are 10 cm or longer are successful at mating. In the next generation, you again measure tail length and find that it ranges from 10 - 15 cm. What is the name for this phenomenon? Why does it occur (i.e., why are males with tail length of 14 cm not present previously in the population)? If selection for longer tail length continues to occur in this population, will male tail length keep getting longer? Explain your answer, either by describing what assumptions are you making (what must be true) in order for your answer to the third question to be supported, or by describing the information you would need to know to validate your answer and how you would get it.

Does anyone know how to go about this search to explain it.
