Read"Renewing Americans' Trust," a first draft chapter from the non-partisan Knight Commission on Trust, Media and Democracy.
The report outlines the commission's understanding of how we've gotten to a point where trust in the media is at an all-time low. It also delves into why trust is so important to our democracy, and how the rise of social media has contributed to the decline of trust.
The commission is working throughout 2018, gathering information and hearing from experts and the public, to propel a national conversation about solutions and develop bold recommendations.
This week's headlines about social media platforms' handling of personal consumer data demonstrate the urgency of these issues in our times.

2. Write a third paragraph, based on what you know, and what you've read, with your personal recommendations for the Knight Commission.
3. This report should be no more than one page in length. You may single-space the report. Important note: This assignment is worth 5 percent of your overall grade in this class.
