Possible outcome on a future event

The stats are related to past events. Every person cannot perform 100% all of the time. They will have off days. Those days are the ones that will be remembered. Who knows, this next time might be the day that the pitcher or quarterback is on fire and nobody can stop them. It reminds me of watching a game and they put a stat on the screen saying that this quarterback has not thrown an interception in 20 games. All of a sudden, two plays later, he throws an interception.

It makes me wonder how we can predict somebody will be due to the past stats of that player. The stats may have some factor, but you cannot guarantee that an outcome will happen based on a previous occasion.

So, how do you decide a possible outcome on a future event if previous stats can be proven wrong?
