In a 2009 effort to restrict a free exchange of ideas and control communications the Government of the Peoples Republic of China (PRC) required Google's (www.google.com) PRC operations to censor web content it considered politically embarrassing or sensitive. This action prompted Google to issue a statement threatening a complete pull-out of the PRC market. In March 2010, Google decided to move it's operations from PRC to Hong Kong (https://edition.cnn.com/2010/BUSINESS/03/23/china.google.winners/index.html).
